Many districts are asking the music educator to integrate technology into their classroom.  Here are a few project based apps that students can use:

• Description:  project creator which can work like a collage, putting content where you want it or collaborate with others

• Limitations:  Not many

 

• Name:  Movenote

• Platform:  Website/Chrome app/Smart device app

• Description:  Slide show movie maker (uses flash) records your webcam as you are describing a series of images

• Exporting:  Movenote Link or Download

• Limitations:  Not Free, but $5 a year to make an acct.

 

• Name:  Screencastify

• Platform:  Website/Chrome app

• Description:  Makes a video of your computer screen in real time.  Works well for web or software tutorials

• Exporting:  to Google Drive

• Limitations:  10 min. of recording time for free version.  Not editable after creation on Free Version
   

• Name:  Magisto

• Platform:  Website/Chrome app/Smart device app

• Description:  Makes a movie out of your pictures or videos randomly without you having to edit them yourself.

• Exporting:  Link or Download

• Limitations:  Not editable after creation.  Not an instant download.  Sometimes have to create it a couple times until you get a "good" one.

• Platform:  Website/Chrome app/Smart device app

• Description:  makes a web app in steps like a recipe (similar to pinterest)

• Exporting:  Link

• Limitations:  Doesn't work on outdated browsers
   

• Name:  Thinglink

• Description:  Create descriptive "points" on any image - like plots on a map

• Exporting:  Link

• Limitations:  Free version has less content
   

• Name:  Edpuzzle

• Platform:  Website/Chrome app/Smart device app

• Description:  Make quizzes that appear as they are watching the video. Add voice-over while videos are playing

• Exporting:  Link

• Limitations:  Complex learning curve for teacher class system, but doesn't have to be used
   

• Name:  PawToon

• Platform:  Website

• Description:  Cartoon movie maker (uses flash).  Make an animated movie with a timeline

• Exporting:  Link

• Limitations:  Free version has limits to content.  Doesn't work on phones or tablets.  Complex learning curve.
   

• Name:  Moovly

• Platform:  Website 

• Description:  Animated movie maker (using flash) Create animated movies.  High functionality

• Exporting:  mp4 

• Limitations:  Some content is limited. Doesn't work on ipads
   

• Name:  Voki

• Platform:  Website

• Description:  Avatar voice recording.  Create a sound recording which will be spoken by an avatar.

• Exporting:  Link

• Limitations:  Free version is limited.
   

• Name:  Tellagami

• Platform:  Smart device app (OS only)

• Description:  Avatar creator.  Create a 30 sec. audio clip with avatar and customizable background

• Exporting:  Link

• Limitations:  Only few avatar details are avail. on free version.  Only on IOS and not Android.
   

• Name:  PicMonkey

• Platform:  Website/Chrome app/Smart device app

• Description:  Photo collage maker (uses flash).  Make photo collages out of uploaded pictures. Many shapes and tools can be used.

• Exporting:  .jpg

• Limitations:  Free version has less usable images and ads.
   

• Name:  Label59

• Platform:  Website/Chrome app

• Description:  Rollover project maker.  Use Markers on a photo to learn more (like points on a map) Similar to Thinglink but has more complex functions.

• Exporting:  link

• Limitations:  email conformation, one picture limit.  Ads in free version
   

• Name:  Piktochart

• Platform:  Website/Chrome app/Smart device app

• Description:  High functionality to make graphics.  Easy to use, better than google drawings.

• Exporting:  pdf, jpg

• Limitations:  Ad banner in exported doc.
